Our Vision

Camp Canvas is a project of MerakiSpeaks, a community initiative dedicated to bridging generations through creativity, connection, and care. After years of creating intergenerational programs that brought youth and elders together, we saw a growing need for meaningful experiences where children could develop both their creative voices and their sense of community responsibility.

We designed Camp Canvas to be more than just a summer camp—it’s a space where kids explore storytelling, art, and public speaking while learning to think about the world around them. Through hands-on projects and a final showcase, children gain confidence in expressing ideas that matter to them, build empathy, and walk away with something they can be proud of.

Our goal is to help children turn curiosity into creativity, and creativity into impact.

Hosted in a warm, backyard setting with thoughtful planning and a deep commitment to child development, Camp Canvas offers the kind of summer experience that inspires kids and reassures parents: safe, fun, meaningful, and skill-building.

Our Design

At Camp Canvas, we go beyond crayons and crafts. Our camp is designed to spark imagination while building real-world skills that last far beyond the summer. Through storytelling, public speaking, and art, your child will learn how to take an idea that matters to them and turn it into something powerful--a single published book.

We blend the best of classic camp fun with a thoughtfully guided community, creative, and leadership journey, so each camper leaves with not only memories, but a meaningful, tangible achievement they're proud of.

Creativity with Purpose
Four colorful children's books are arranged on a light wooden surface. Each book cover features distinct artwork and typography. One book has an orange cover with white lettering and small star designs. Another book has a blue and white cover with an illustration of an indigenous character. A third book displays an animated character with a furry costume on a primarily white cover. The fourth book has a cartoonish jar filled with bright-colored characters against a brownish background.
